This global communications team (above)—some of whom work in their headquarters right across the street from where we were standing—kicked off a week of NYC meetings with my Central Park tour for work groups and members. The park is always blooming with revelations, but on this lovely morning, the biggest one for me was that most of the New Yorkers in the group had never been to the spots we visited—including the dreamy Hallett Nature Sanctuary, which they look down on from their offices 30 floors up. It was a reminder to all of us to get off our phones, go outside, and explore our own backyards.

You’ll Be Tickled Pink

One of the more exciting things about being a tour guide is discovering and sharing cool new spots like this one—can you guess where this café sits? You’re correct if you said beneath the recently redesigned, fabulously lit overhang of 2 Penn Plaza—aka that previously nondescript office building above Penn Station on the Seventh Avenue side. This calm coffee cove is called Office Hours and is open M–T, 8–4—get it? You have to take the escalator after entering the building’s lobby to reach it, making it feel like a secret perch over Midtown.
