Amazing NYC Walks & Experiences with Jordan

An Electric Morning

Get this! I recently took Judy (pictured above) on my Bob Dylan’s Greenwich Village tour. It turns out she used to see Dylan at small shows in the ’60s, when his career was just taking off—sometimes calling out requests from just a few feet away! She was also at the Newport Jazz Festival where Dylan’s electric switch stirred up critics and fans alike. And speaking of electric—notice Judy’s Blondie shirt? When we arrived at Electric Lady Studios, I got to surprise her with the news that Blondie recorded some of their biggest hits right there. Rapture all around!

Real to Reels

This is the grand Vanderbilt Gate, which once marked the entrance to the Gilded Age family’s mansion at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Today, it stands at 106th Street—and I explain how it got there in one of my new reels on Instagram: amazingnycwalks. I’ve also featured the carnival of lighting fixtures in Grand Central, the secret tunnel under the Friends building, the “stairway to heaven” in Penn Station, and more NYC stories that even most New Yorkers don’t know. Hope to see you there!

A Recommendation

If you’re near Penn Station and hungry, check out the new Los Tacos No. 1—it’s surprisingly good. It’s already been discovered, so there’s often a line, but it moves quickly. Best part? You can now enjoy your tacos right next door in Plaza 33, a pedestrian-only green space with plenty of tables and a perfect view of the Empire State Building.
